Reception have had a fun filled Friday afternoon. We started off by listening to Carnival of the Animals, we discussed how animals move and which animals we think of when we hear the music.
Children then used ribbons, streamers and pom poms to move like animals under the sea. We then played a game called Captain’s Orders, we had to listen attentively and follow the instructions, reception showed excellent understanding, Mrs Chalder was super impressed. ☠️
On Wednesday, Reception read the story of “The Lion and the Mouse”, based on an Aesop’s fable. In the morning, children created a whole class pierce of transient art, in the style of Andy Goldsworthy. Children selected materials based on the characteristics of the animals. Children also created their own lion faces using natural materials.
In the afternoon, children freeze-framed key parts in the story.
Well done Reception!
Reception thoroughly enjoyed our Sunshine Funtime morning, we created art in the style of Andy Goldsworthy, enjoyed popcorn and a story around the fire, created positivity stones to begin our positivity python and used clay to create tree spirits. What a gorgeous morning outdoors!

Reception had a wonderful afternoon learning about Howard Carter and then we spent the afternoon being archaeologists ourselves – digging, excavating & exploring! Thank you Mrs O’Doherty for planning a gorgeous afternoon for us, learning all about our History Mover & Shaker! ⚒
KS1 had a fantastic time during their Spanish party… they tried lots of Spanish food, listened to Spanish music and hit the piñata. We would like to say a big thank you to Mr Rundle for organising it all!
Reception had a lovely morning at Jarrow Library. We loved story time with Catherine.
Reception loved their first St Oswald’s music festival! We thoroughly enjoyed our ice lollies to help us cool down in this gorgeous hot weather
well done superstars, fantastic singing and actions!

Reception had a wonderful day of music today! We focussed on performance and our mover & shaker, Gary Barlow.
We learnt some of the Take That song, Shine, adding in accompanying instruments and thinking about the rhythm and beat! We even ended on a performance for lots of our school grown ups who heard our wonderful music and came to see us!
Our favourite audience members had to be the lovely Mrs Urwin and baby Ada who LOVED seeing us perform! ❤️
This morning, Reception looked at rotating shapes with Miss Topping. We focused on following repeated patterns on peg boards, rotating and repeating shapes in an order and cutting out shapes and rotating them to create ice creams, boats and houses!
