What an amazing experience for our little ones, rock pooling with John from Durham Wildlife Trust. Park fun in the morning, followed by a scavenger hunt, exploring rock pools and handling sea creatures. What a fantastic day! I’m sure we’ll have lots of tired boys, girls and teachers tonight ☀️

This afternoon reception have learnt to dance like a sailor using The Sailor’s Hornpipe song. We listened to the music and thought about how it made us feel and how the music changes. We then watched a video of people performing a dance to the Sailor’s Hornpipe, we discussed how they moved. We then went outside into our garden and danced like a sailor following instructions. Well done reception, what great fun! ⛴️

Reception had a wonderful morning making the sounds of the sea, sea shakers! Look at all of the hard work that went into them & wait until you see us shake, shake, shaking them! ☀️
What a gorgeous morning for reception’s first sports day! Well done you little sports day superstars.

Our reception children had a wonderful day last week, taking a trip on the ferry to North Shields! There was awe and wonder in abundance as our children boarded the ferry – what a magical day for everyone, with our children being spectacular! ✨
What a gorgeous day for Reception’s first Whole School Beach event! A massive thank you to all our lovely parents and carers for joining us. The weather was gorgeous and the children had so much fun!

Today, Reception became pirates.

Reception have had a fun filled Friday afternoon. We started off by listening to Carnival of the Animals, we discussed how animals move and which animals we think of when we hear the music.
Children then used ribbons, streamers and pom poms to move like animals under the sea. We then played a game called Captain’s Orders, we had to listen attentively and follow the instructions, reception showed excellent understanding, Mrs Chalder was super impressed. ☠️
On Wednesday, Reception read the story of “The Lion and the Mouse”, based on an Aesop’s fable. In the morning, children created a whole class pierce of transient art, in the style of Andy Goldsworthy. Children selected materials based on the characteristics of the animals. Children also created their own lion faces using natural materials.
In the afternoon, children freeze-framed key parts in the story.
Well done Reception!
