Year 1 had an awesome World Book Day, focusing on the story “Paddington at the Palace” by Michael Rosen. First of all, children read the story and completed a reading comprehension about the text to check their understanding. Then they had a virtual tour of Buckingham Palace where they learnt all about the different rooms, decor and staff. Children found this absolutely fascinating. Children then got the chance to become an interior designer for King Charles, designing their own room and decoration in the palace. Finally in the afternoon, children watched Paddington meet the late Queen at her Platinum Jubilee, then they had their own afternoon tea. Children loved making and tasting marmalade sandwiches. Yum, yum!
Thank you to our amazing parents and carers for their fantastic effort with the children’s costumes!
